SUMMER CAMP: Cincinnati Architecture Mentoring Program
Middle School Camp for Architecture
Architecture Summer C.A.M.P.
July 10-16, 2016
Full day camp for students rising to 8th and 9th grade in the fall of 2016.
Have you always enjoyed drawing or creating things? Do you design buildings in Minecraft, Sims or with Legos? The Cincinnati Architecture Mentoring Program, also known as C.A.M.P., is a great way to experience what life would be like as an architect or designer. Architects help design and build the world we live in and affect every part of our daily life.
Join us this summer to learn from and work with faculty from the DAAP School of Architecture and Interior Design (SAID), tour architects offices and visit some great buildings on UC’s campus and throughout Cincinnati. Explore the creative process of designing buildings through hands-on projects incorporating drawing techniques and model building. Students will learn to work in teams which is an important part of architecture.
C.A.M.P., in partnership with SAID, will offer a week-long day camp experience to introduce students to the creative and exciting world of architectural design.
C.A.M.P. was formed in 2006 as a collaborative effort between SAID, the American Institute of Architects and the National Organization of Minority Architects to improve diversity in the field of Architecture. Priority will be given to minority applicants.
The full-day camp will be from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Tuition for the Architecture Middle School Day camp is 75.00 which includes lunch each day, all costs associated with supplies for model building, drawings and field trips. Full Scholarships are available for those that apply, thanks to the support of local architects and philanthropic organizations.
If you or your child feels architecture could be for them, please apply and tell us why you want to come to Summer C.A.M.P.!
